Author Guidelines

The rules for the design of scientific articles are based on the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts submitted to Biomedical Journals" by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

1. The editorial board of the Medical Journal accepts original scientific articles, scientific reviews, lectures on topical issues of medicine and healthcare organization, and instructive clinical observations. Articles with the results of research performed in violation of the "Rules and norms of humane treatment of biological research objects" are not accepted. Articles are published after review and approval by the editorial board. The editorial staff publishes materials in Russian, Belarusian and English. It is not allowed to send previously published articles or those already accepted for publication in other editions.

2. Articles are accepted with recommendations for publication by a scientific seminar, academic council, department, laboratory, etc., with the visa of the head.

3. One copy of the manuscript and a cover letter from the authors should be sent to the editorial office, which should include:

• initials and surnames of the authors;
• title of the article;
• information that the article has not been previously published or submitted to another journal for review and publication;
• the obligation of the authors to transfer the copyright to the publisher if the article is accepted for publication;
• statement of absence of financial and other conflict of interests;
• information about the authors' participation in the creation of the article: A) the concept and design of the study; B) collection of information and processing of the material; C) statistical data processing; D) writing the text; E) editing the text.
 • information about the authors (surname, first name, patronymic; academic degree, title, position; postal address of the institution and e-mail; mobile phone number for contacting one of the authors - the competent person).

All persons designated as "authors" must meet the criteria of this concept. The right to be called an author is based on: 1. significant contribution to the research concept or to the analysis and interpretation of data; 2. preparation of the text of the article or making fundamental changes; 3. final approval of the version of the article that is being submitted to the press. Participation, which consists only in providing funding or selecting material for the article, as well as the general leadership of the research team, is not considered sufficient for authorship. All members of the team who do not meet the criteria of authorship are listed with their consent in the "Expression of gratitude" section.

4. The article should be created using the Microsoft Word text editor, printed on one side of a sheet of A4 white paper, font Times New Roman, size – 12, line spacing – 1.5, paragraph indentation – 1.25 cm. Formatting: the width of the field on the left/top/bottom/right is 3 cm/2.5cm/2.5cm/1 cm. All pages must be numbered.

5. Structure of the article: 1. Universal Decimal Classification Index (UDC); 2. initials and surnames of the authors; 3. title of the article; 4. full name of the institutions in which the authors work, indicating the city and country (superscript Arabic numerals indicate the correspondence of institutions).

6. The abstract in Russian can be published independently in isolation from the main text, therefore it should be understandable without referring to the text of the article (the volume is 150-250 words). Structurally, it is advisable to repeat the sections of the article (purpose, methods, results, conclusion). The text of the abstract should be concise and clear, abbreviations and symbols other than the generally accepted ones are not used. The results of the work are described extremely accurately and informatively (the main theoretical and experimental results, actual data, discovered patterns and interconnections). The conclusions may be accompanied by recommendations and suggestions described in the article. Keywords are a set of words (5-10) reflecting the content of the article.
The English abstract must be original (not a literal translation of the Russian-language abstract). The surname and patronymic of the author(s) must match the passport.

7. The volume of original articles, including figures, tables, and a literature index, should not exceed 12 pages, scientific reviews and lectures – 20 pages, and other articles – up to 5 pages. Abbreviations of words are not allowed, except for generally accepted abbreviations of chemical and mathematical quantities, measures, and terms. The articles should use the SI system of units.

7.1. Required parts of the original scientific publication:

1. The introduction (no more than 2 pages) should disclose the relevance of the problem that has become the subject of research, including its scale (prevalence, incidence, etc.) and indirect effects (social, economic).;

2. the purpose of the study;

3. methods (design, method of evaluation of results, description of statistical methods and package for processing the received data);

4. Results;

5. Discussion (in terms of novelty and comparison with known data);

6. Conclusion (in the form of the whole text);

7. Source of financing (sponsorship – grants, equipment, medicines, etc.);

8. conflict of interest (circumstances that may affect the results or interpretation of the study). If there is no conflict of interest, it is necessary to inform about it. Sample wording: "The team of authors declares that there is no conflict of interest."

7.2. Scientific review

The purpose of a review publication should be a discussion of the accumulated material and presentation of the author's new view on previously described phenomena, rethinking and searching for new approaches to their interpretation, rather than simply listing the facts and stating the current state of the issue. Mandatory parts of the review publication:

• Introduction;
• discussion (can be separated into an independent section or run systematically through the entire text);
• conclusion (in the form of the whole text);

8. The list of sources used (for the original article – no more than 20, for scientific reviews – no more than 50) in Russian (Belarusian) is drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Attestation  Commission of the Republic of Belarus (GOST 7.1-2003). The cited literature is given in a general list as it is mentioned, indicating the doi (if any), references in the text are given in ordinal number in square brackets.

This is followed by a list of cited sources in the Roman alphabet (References): the authors and the title of the article (transliteration), [English translation of the title in square brackets], the name of the Russian-language source (transliteration). Examples of bibliographic descriptions of documents for References.
